Welcome Back to School and Work!
|
I have been able to meet with each regional advisory board and the Governance Board already this year. The CCSW team has been working to set district 1:1 engagement planning sessions, so that our K12 partners are able to articulate the priorities and areas of focus most important to their students. As of September 30, we’ve met with 16 of the 30 districts in ESD112. Please contact me directly if you are ready to schedule your district meeting.

During the last two months, we gathered input from all stakeholders on the proposal to allocate our Plus Funding from Career Connect WA. At the September Governance Board meeting, the plan to create two 25% positions as Rural Career Navigators was approved. The plan will go to CCW for approval next month, and we are already working to staff these positions for Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Skamania and Klickitat counties.

Columbia River STEM Network
|
|
|
|
The Columbia River STEM Network has approved a plan to develop summer paid internship experiences for about 30 students. This program will be led by Christine Katon and Chad Mullen, working collaboratively with each district and local chambers and businesses to place juniors and seniors in career-aligned experiences during summer 2022. Students at the Pacific Crest Innovation Academy are gearing up for career readiness training this fall, and will start job shadowing with local business partners in the spring. District superintendent Bob Rogers and Dean of Students Kaylene Herman are working with the CCSW team to support their students with resume writing and mock interviewing.

|
Network partners at Silicon Forest Electronics will collaborate with educators during our October Teacher Connect professional learning. Educators who register will have the chance to virtually explore SFI, and other local semiconductor and electronics manufacturers, meet employees to hear about their work, develop and vet classroom career exploration tasks with other educators and receive a $200 stipend.

This opportunity is open to all K12 educators, administrators and guidance counselors who want to know more about careers in manufacturing.
